This moon is named for the first Esbat of the year. We write the blessings we desire in the Book of Shadows, seal them, and open the page again on the last Full Moon.
This Moon stands between the end and the beginning, keeping us alert to both past and future. White is traditionally used for its symbolism of purification. This is an important, meditative time to prepare for what is coming, especially as it accompanies the season of Litha, a time of fertility and movement. Remain calm and focused, review the lessons learned so far, and renew your protections.
There is no fixed ritual this time, only suggestions for enjoying the moment; feel free to create your own.
- Take a cleansing bath to clear your energy.
- Throw away anything broken, torn, or unused. Stagnant energy harms prosperity: release the old and make room for the new.
- Review your conduct this year:
Have you been faithful to your principles?
Have you grown in any area of your life?
Have you repeated mistakes you swore you would not repeat?
Reflect, reflect, and reflect.
In a calm moment, open the Blessed Moon page in your Book of Shadows and see which blessings you have achieved. In peace and clarity, thank the Goddess, the God, your patrons, and your ancestors for the help received during this cycle. If you wish, perform a simple rite of thanks.
Remember that your greatest source is yourself. The Gods are not a crutch to make life easy; what is given can be taken away. When victory comes from your personal power to transform your surroundings, the Gods themselves will protect your treasures. Then you are worthy to walk beside them, not behind them. What mother does not rejoice to see her child walk firmly on their own legs?
