From that day on, the sun approaches Earth, and the darkness of winter threatens to leave. The month of June in Gaelic is called Meitheamh. In Welsh, this festival is known as Alban Arthan, the Light of Arthur or the Light of Winter, a poetic version that relates the Winter Solstice to the legends of King Arthur, as Arcturus, the bear's guardian, to the brightest star of the Northern Hemisphere, which celebrates this festival on December 21st.

It is when the Goddess gives birth to her new child, the renewed and strong God, still a baby. It is important to note that in the Northern Hemisphere the Yule is celebrated at the same time as Christmas, and that it has meaning much like the Christian holiday: the birth of the boy God, the son of a greater God, who will bring hope to Earth. This is a period of inner strengthening and total downward movement. In the winter solstice the powers of night and earth reach their peak.
The habit of bringing pine trees into the house is a totally pagan habit: the pine, the holly, and so many other trees so used at Christmas are trees whose evergreen and evergreen leaves symbolize the continuation of life. The bells are feminine symbols of fertility, and announce the spirits who may be present. It is from this ancient date that Christian Christmas originated.

At this time, the Goddess gives to the Light the God, who is revered as PROMISED CHILD. In Yule it is time to find our hopes again, asking the gods to rejuvenate our hearts and give us the strength to free ourselves from the old, worn-out things. It is time to discover the child within us and be reborn with his purity and joy.
The Winter Solstice is a time of regeneration and change, the gathering in the total darkness of the soul, that is, the hibernation to renew itself. Ideal to awaken our inner child, renewing hopes and energies.
It's been a while. From this date, sunlight begins to increase gradually, despite cold weather.
The Winter Solstice festival basically represents the cycle of death and rebirth. Moment conducive to meditation, introspection, detachment and the realization of protection-oriented amulets. Enjoy, too, to burn in the flames of fire, in your cauldron, everything you no longer want in your life.

Put flowers and seasonal fruits on the altar. If you want, you can make a decorated tree, because it is the old “pagan” tradition, where thealtaryule1Tree was sacred and the months of the year had names of trees. This is the longest night of the year, where the Goddess is revered as the Mother of the Promised Child or of the Sun God, who was born to bring Light into the world. Likewise, despite all difficulties, we must always trust our own inner light.
Ornate your altar with fig leaves, mistletoe or cypress, as well as the pine tree that symbolizes renewal and growth, as well as elements that resemble winter. Light some candles, to symbolize the sun and raise your spirits. Honor the Great Mother and the rebirth of solar power, as the hope of the return of light.
So be it!

Celebrating Yule

altaryuleThe altar is decorated with plants such as pine, ALECRIM, LOURO, zimbo and cedar, which can be used to mark the Circle. Dry leaves can also be placed on the altar. Fill the cauldron – on the altar and on a FIRE-proof surface – with some flammable liquid (alcohol), or put a red VELA inside the cauldron.

In external RITUALS, prepare a fire under the cauldron, to be lit during the RITUAL , Prepare the Altar , light the VELES and THE INCENSE , create the circle, invoke the Goddess and God. stand before the cauldron, behold its interior. Say these words or similar.

“ I don't worry, though the world is wrapped in sleep.
I don't worry, though the cold winds blow.
I don't worry, though the snow falls hard and deep.
I do not worry, soon this will also be past.”

Light the cauldron (or candle), using long matches or a candle, as the flames crackle, say:

“ I light this fire in your honor, Mother Goddess.
You created life from death; the heat of cold;
The sun lives again; the time of light is growing.
Welcome, Sun God who always returns!
Hail, Mother of Everything!”

Round the altar and cauldron slowly clockwise, watching the flames. Repeat the following for a while:

“The wheel turns, the power burns!”

Meditate on the sun, on the hidden energies that fall asleep during the winter, not only on Earth but on ourselves. Think of birth not as the beginning of life, but its continuation. Welcome to God.

After a while, stop and again stand before the altar and the cauldron in the fire, say:

“Great God of the Sun, I greet Your return.
Let them shine upon the Goddess.
Let them shine upon the earth polêmica
Spreading the seeds and fertilizing the soil.
To You all blessings, O reborn of the Sun!”

Magic work, if necessary, can follow! Celebrate the simple feast. The circle is broken.
