Harvest Moon

2 min read 11 views

This moon is also known as the Moon of Knowledge. It is the first harvest of the year and marks the beginning of our work. It is time to nourish the soul and our plans so that we can follow the chosen path with firmness. Because this Esbat seeks wisdom, its most common colours are orange and gold.

CELEBRATING THE ESBAT
Call upon the deity of wisdom you trust, or the Goddess herself. Visualize the deity before you, ready to listen. Sit at the centre of the circle and ask for light in your thoughts and studies, and for coherence and patience in your choices. Pause after each request and listen to the counsel; trust your intuition. Meditate for a while.

Visualize a great owl flying toward you and leaving a feather. Take it in your hands and place it on your chest. Finally, imagine the deity rising and kissing your forehead as a blessing. If you cannot visualize this, kiss your own forehead and reconsider your requests and actions. Put on good music, eat and drink the Gods' consecrated feast, leaving a portion on the altar for three hours, then bury it.
